CONDUCTOR

Richard Nott is a choral conductor, having worked with many amateur choirs and choral societies in east London and Essex with his work as Director of Music at St Bede’s Roman Catholic Church in Chadwell Heath.

His wealth of experience with Catholic liturgy ranges from plainsong and Renaissance choral music to modern worship and special commissions for important church events. Richard is also very comfortable rehearsing choirs from churches of other denominations as well as non-church choirs.

Richard’s style is very much a relaxed one, making rehearsals fun and engaging, providing a comfortable learning environment for amateur singers. Richard is also experienced in 'depping' for Choir Leaders when they are unable to take a rehearsal but want the practise to go ahead. If you are interested in talking to Richard about 'depping', please make contact with him.

News

Hello everyone, and welcome to my latest update.

I can't believe that December is fast disappearing and that Christmas is just round the corner. I've not had a chance to write any cards or do my Christmas shopping.

December has been crazy busy. I've hardly had a chance to breathe. My next free day is Boxing Day!

Bishop Thomas McMahon, Emeritus Bishop of Brentwood, died at the end of November. I was honoured to be asked to live-stream a memorial Mass from his beloved church in Stock where he was Parish Priest from 1969 until his death. He was Bishop of Brentwood between 1980 and 2014. These dates make him not only the longest serving Parish Priest in England, but also the longest serving Bishop. His funeral took place at Brentwood Cathedral. I was privileged to be a part of the team that live-streamed this Requiem Mass, at which Cardinal Vincent Nichols presided. There is a link to the Mass on the Bishop Thomas Stock page on this site.

I have bought myself a post-mid-life-crisis sports car! It's a bright yellow 2003 Mercedes SLK. I bought it from Sam at SPR Autos in Stockport...check out their YouTube channel and you'll see some videos of the yellow peril as they work on it. Mechanically she's sorted, but there are some bits of rust, dents etc that I'll get done over the next 6-9 months ready for next Summer. I think a road trip will be in order.

That's about it for now, I think. Keep well and safe, and I wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.

Best wishes,

Richard
